In the early evening in front of the parliament building. A crowd that quickly grows. I pick up a leaflet. One side reads: “Better the Drachma than surrender.” The other side reads: “We owe nothing. We do not pay anything. We do not sell anything.” I get into a discussion with three young men and women. They all live in Athens. All of them have an amazing knowledge of the crisis and formulate amazingly clear their opinion, they have also a highly differentiated attitude towards the government.
Amazing, compared to the relevant media reporting in Germany about Greece or the politicians who determine the destiny of these people. In the last few years like a campaign of destruction. That’s why the word “surrender” appears entirely appropriate. Politicians and journalists should not be surprised by the radicalism now or even get riled, they themselves have envoked it with their irresponsible, inhumane and economically and socially destructive, absolutely counterproductive policy.
